Sand and Gravel Haulers
Eligible Operations
Operations eligible under this program include those risks that haul sand, gravel, or other aggregate material for delivery or distribution. Certain trucking risks that haul these materials for hire are also eligible. Risks that are considered "contract haulers" are eligible.
Age of Power Units
One of the requirements of our program is that 75% of the power units be less than 20 years old.
Back up Alarms
Back up alarms have proven to be very effective at reducing the number and severity of backing claims that arise from operation of heavy units. These alarms sound when the unit is backing and are designed to alert pedestrians or drivers of other vehicles that the unit is backing up. It is a mandatory requirement of our program that heavy units be equipped with these alarms.
This program is designed for aggregate haulers. Eligibility should be limited to those risks whose primary operation is the hauling of sand, gravel, or other aggregate material. Here is a partial list of those operations that would render a risk ineligible for this program:
- Hauling of hazardous materials
- Hauling of any waste products or construction debris
- Hauling of demolition debris
- Disaster recovery/clean-up services
- Transport of heavy equipment or construction equipment for hire (trucking)
- Concrete mix-in-transit
- Concrete pumper operations
- Junk hauling or garbage disposal
- House moving operations
- Sales or repair of trucks and heavy equipment
- Mining operations (other than quarrying stone for production of rock and gravel for sale)
- Rental of vehicles to others with or without operators
